Single Malts
The Balvenie Double Wood 12 Year
A smooth and mellow single malt of beautifully combined flavours – nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry
The Balvenie Single Barrel 15 Year
Rich and complex – suggestive of years of careful ageing, fragrant aroma of vanilla flavoured sweetness, hints of heather and dry oaky notes
The Balvenie 21 Year
Clean, mouth-watering evidence of fresh port pipes; the wine swamps the malt for a while, but tasting Balvenie the complexity returns and sweet maltiness leads the way
Laphroaig 10 Year
Seaweedy “medicinal”, with hints of sweetness and layers of peat, heather and barley. Roll around the tongue to release the pungent, earthy aroma of blue peat smoke and sweet nutty barley
Dalmore Cigar Malt
A perfect accompaniment to a fine cigar. The strong malty flavours tantalise the tongue, covering it with a cloak of classic flavours. Pleasant notes of citrus and heavy fruits
Ardbeg 10 Year
More complex, citrus-led and sophisticated than recent bottlings, but the peat is no less but now simply displayed in an even greater elegance
Dewar’s Signature
Distinctive and lucid despite some obvious age around. Very firm, almost crisp apples with sweeter malt softening the sharpness
Glenburgie
Doing so well until the spectacularly flat, bitter finish. Orangey citrus and liquorice had abounded
The Glenlivet 12 Year
A surfeit of apples on both nose and body. The malt is quite rich at first but thins out for the vanilla and thick toffee at the death
The Glenlivet 18 Year
Another Glenlivet that starts beautifully but lacks stamina
The Glenlivet 21 Year
Wonderfully lively and making a lie of its age; apples and grape vie with juicy barley
Glenmorangie Traditional
Young, faultless and probably from second-fill bourbon, it reveals how the extra oak turns this from first-rate blending material into a masterpiece
Glen Ord
Better than some years ago, when it was an unhappy shadow of its once-great self, but without the sparkle of the vaguely-smoked bottling of a year or two back. Nothing wrong with the rich arrival but the finish is a mess
Isle of Jura Superstition
Light delicate phenolic aromas, with strong honey, spice and cinnamon overtones. Gold award winner at 2004 International Wine & Spirit Competition
Lagavulin 16 Year
Wave upon the surging wave of giant peat; delicate spices interject with hints of malt and liquorice. Heavy roast Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee and medium roast Java blend
The Macallan 12 Year
Promises but delivers only to an extent

Blends Whisky
Bushmills
Fresh and light with notes of apricot and cut grass. Honey with some light vanilla tomes. Cut flower stems and peanut shells
Jameson
Crisp pot still bounces off some firm and clean grain. Fresh sherry offers a softer dimension; melt-in-the-mouth sherry is the prelude to brilliant pot-still sharpness
Johnny Walker Blue
The old, cleverly peated nose has been lost to us and now the accent falls on fruit but this is hardly as cleanly enduring as it might be
Johnny Walker Gold
Strands of honey holds together some clean firm grain and speysidey grassiness and the most distant toil of peat; meticulous and refined
Johnny Walker Green
Fresh and slightly fruity; fir trees and laurel bushes with oranges and a touch of liquorice. Smooth and well-balanced with hints of sandalwood, camphorwood, sweet violets and pine nuts
Johnny Walker Swing
Grainy, biting and explosive, this blend sets itself apart from the other JW brands but is ultimately too well toffee’d for its own good

Cognac
Courvoisier VS
Rich, fresh and oaky balanced with the vigour of a young cognac. A fruity delicate taste with a bouquet suffused with ripe fruit and spring flowers
Courvoisier VSOP
Subtle and harmonious with undertones of vanilla and grilled almond. A delicate bouquet and excellent balance of oak and exotic flavours
Martell VS
Primary notes evoking gingerbread and dry fruits, soon complimented by the refreshing aroma of orange marmalade, lemon zests and orange tree flower, culminating in a subtle finale of nice rancio notes, with a mix of walnut stain, curry paste and cedar wood
Bisquit VSOP
A soft and silky feeling releasing the mellowness of this first instance and reinforcing the smoothness of the sophisticated blending. This initial mellowness is then intensified by an incredible length in mouth, bringing the flavours into full bloom
